When Will Spring Stick Around?

We have only been able to string together 3 days in a row so far this year with highs of 60° or more. The last time we had at least 4 days in a row of 60° or more was in early October. 60s will return tomorrow but they are sandwiched in-between days with highs in the 50s. Both the latest 6-10 day and 8-14 day temperature probability outlooks have us favored for below average temperatures overall through early May. We will probably have a few warmer days within that period but this suggests several days below the average high in the lower 60s.

So that means we should try to enjoy Wednesday's warmth while we can. It will be the warmest day here through at least this weekend. After highs today about 10° below average we will bounce back to just above average tomorrow. Watch out for gusty winds today although not as strong as yesterday when winds gusted over 60 mph in West Chicago and Kenosha. If you want to be warmer then head to Phoenix where highs this weekend will approach 100°. Most of the western half of the country will see temperatures well above average through the start of next month. The jet stream will be surging north out west while sinking south in the east carrying cooler air and splitting the country almost in two.

With the Wednesday warm up comes a threat of some showers. There could be a few rumbles of thunder by Wednesday evening too.
