So Long Snow, Hello Sunshine & 60°
Hopefully this is the last discussion we will have about snow for a loooooong time. 3" of snow fell at O'Hare yesterday to break the record for the date. So far this April there has been 4.7" at the airport making this the 11th snowiest April ever. Some spots south and west of the city picked up more than 4" of the white stuff.
Snow is out of the forecast at least for the next 7 days. Today we will enjoy sunshine and highs near 60°. The only "catch" is the winds will be strong, gusting at times over 40 mph.
The strongest winds will hit between just after lunch and into the early evening hours.
Most o the weekend will be dry but can't rule out a little light rain early Sunday. Models have a low chance of precipitation around and just after sunrise. Spotty sprinkles possible but it shouldn't spoil a nice weekend.
The wind will turn off the lake Sunday and be off the lake at times Tuesday through Friday. Water temperatures in southern Lake Michigan are running in the lower 40s so it's time to pull out the the phrase "cooler by the lake".
Here is my 7 day forecast:
Today: Sunny skies, windy & warmer High: 60
