Best Windows Of Nice Weather Ahead

I don't know about you but my cabin fever is running high. Yesterday helped and more nice windows of weather coming up should allow us opportunities to get outside.

The first 70s of the year could arrive Tuesday. I say 'could' because all not all models agree on the just how warm we will get. The ECMWF or European model hints at a wide range of temperatues Tuesday from the 50s near the lakeshore to near 70 well south and west of the city with a warm front stalled to our south. The GFS or American model has a warmer outlook. The graphic above from ClimteReanalyzer.org shows the GFS temperature anomaly forecast for Tuesday around 7 pm. It suggests temps about 20-25° above average which would mean lower 70s.

The image above shows the GFS temperatures forecast for Tuesday around 3 pm. By that point 70s have nudged north into our southern suburbs. The arrival of more substantial spring warmth will coincide with some spring thunderstorms. The highest chance for showers and storms over the next several days is late Tuesday into early Wednesday.

The GFS meteogram above for O'Hare includes a cloud cover and precipitation forecast through April 12th. Green spikes or bars represent how much rain cold fall during the period and a red spike or bar within the green means that rain could be accompanied by thunderstorms. The cloud cover forecast depicts clouds at three levels. The more blue in total for those three levels means the more sunshine expected. This weekend will start with a few showers early Saturday but then a nice weather window opens up as we dry out Saturday afternoon. Sunday will be the best day of the weekend though with some sunshine and highs in the 50s. The next bigger window of nice weather will be later Wednesday into Friday. Some sunshine & 60s expected Wednesday then cooler with 50s and some sun on Thursday.

Here is my 7 day forecast:

Today: Mostly cloudy, peeks of sun High: 63 (50 Lakefront)

Saturday: Showers mainly early, mostly cloudy Low: 42 High: 49 (45 Lakefront)

Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny Low: 38 High: 53 (49 Lakefront)

Monday: Mostly cloudy, sct. showers & t-storms Low: 40 High: 63 (56 Lakefront)
