A Warm Up On The Way
It's a good sign. Both the 6 to 10 day and 8 to 14 day outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center have us outlooked for above average temperatures overall. That covers the period of April 5th through April 13th. Beginning on April 17th the average high temperature for O'Hare is 60° and four weeks later by May 15th the average temperature climbs to 70°. The warmer weather will certainly make us feel better and it is possible it could help slow the spread of COVID-19.
There is a lot of tans and reds on these maps and it all points to a spring warm up. The graph below has forecast temperatures from several models through next Tuesday. There is at least 4 days with highs near or above 60 in this forecast.
But wait, there's more!!! Over the span of the next 9 days there is only three decent chances for precipitation. The green spikes on the GFS meteogram below correspond to a threat of rain for that particular period. Friday night into early Saturday, next Monday and Tuesday have the best chances for rain.
So maybe spring has finally sprung and some more consistent 60s could be right around the corner. I can't wait.
